The article is about a survey 3 Nanyang Technology University students conducted. The survey found that out of 419 people aged 17 to 25, most had at least one accident because they were glued to their phones. The total number of reported accidents from these 419 people is 598. Despite 84% of them admitting that looking at their mobile devices while walking is dangerous,93% of them still fiddle with their phones while walking. This shows how stubborn and ignorant these teenagers are despite knowing the dangers of walking while looking at their mobile devices.
I agree with the writer that walking while looking at your mobile phones is dangerous because when you do this, you will be unaware of your surroundings and it is as good as you walking blindfolded. Imagine trying to walk around blindfolded, not knowing what is coming towards you. That is how dangerous it is to walk while looking at your mobile phone. If a car was speeding towards you but you are unaware of it, you will get into an accident. Despite knowing this simple fact, many still continue doing what they do.
The issue is in Singapore. However the government should still have some safety measures. One recommendation is fining those who walk while using their mobile phones so as to discourage them from doing so,which is for their own well-being.
