Article name : More leaving cabs without paying up
Published date : 4 February 2015

The main issue discussed in this article is about the increase in the number of cases of passengers who just run off after reaching their destination without paying for their fares. Some drivers have no other choice but to drop the case since they do not have any personal details of the passengers. However there are also actions such as blacklisting those passenger's phone numbers in the booking system to deter such cases of fare evaders. However as the passengers can still get away with it despite the stickers that were put into warm the passengers against fare evasion, some drivers felt very disappointed.

After reading this article, I personally find it very saddening as those Singaporeans who left the taxi without paying for the fares are being very irresponsible and this reflects a negative image of Singapore to other countries. If they do not have money to take a taxi, they should have made use of other modes of transports such as buses or the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) which are much more affordable. I feel that they should be more considerate for the drivers as they are also working hard to earn a living.

In conclusion, I strongly feel that there are still many irresponsible and inconsiderate Singaporeans out there, therefore we should all refrain ourself from becoming one of them and set a good example for each other to make sure that the situation will improve.

  2. I agree with you that it is very irresponsible for these Singaporeans to leave the taxi without paying for their fares as the taxi drivers are working hard to earn money. However, i think they should use other methods to improve the situations such as setting up security cameras in the taxis so that even if the passenger leave without paying the fare, they could have a picture of his face and would be able to track him down. This way Less people would take the risk to leave without paying for the fares.
