The issue being discussed is whether private tuitions are necessary since they stated that students cannot succeed without extra coaching outside the school. But Senior Minister of State for Education and Law Indranee Rajah disagrees as she stated that education programs in school is made that students will learn everything in school and private tuition is thus not necessary. I observed that private tuition is not only useless and also costly as stated in the news. It is expensive and only children of richer family can afford. However, my friends who are of normal households can afford tuition and they think that private tuitions helped them a lot in their studies. They made them understand the subjects better.

When Senior Minister of State for Education and Law Indranee Rajah stated that "Our education system is run on the basis that tuition is not necessary," I agree with her. In school, teachers will teach the students everything they needed and that what schools are for, sending children to school and let the teacher teach them. But private tuitions teaches the students thing they already learned at school and other extra things which in my opinion are not needed. Furthermore, when students have certain subjects they are weak at, supplementary lessons are provided in school to help these students so private tuitions are not needed to help students in their weak subject when they could get help in school. Moreover, there are teachers in school available to answer the students' questions. So I agree with Senior Minister of State for Education and Law Indranee Rajah that Singapore's education system is run on basis that tuition is not necessary.

In my opinion, if students pay attention in classes, they should be able to learn everything they needed. There are also teachers in school there to guide the students and students can ask the teachers whenever they are in doubt. Private tuitions teaches students with things that are not of importance. They are extra informations that is not necessarily essential to the students. Furthermore, it is tiring for students especially when their tuitions are after school. Therefore, in my opinion, private tuitions are not necessary.

  3. Yizhuo, you have commented on the wrong post.
I disagree with your point. You said that private tuition is useless, if that is the case, why are some students getting much better grades than they did after receiving private tuition? Yes, teachers are there to guide us but have you thought of the many classes one teacher is teaching? She has so many students to attend to, thus having less time for one individual. Private tuition is necessary to give students more attention and help in their studies.
