This artice is about how Sim Lim Square retailers will soon get training to help them interact better with customers, as part of a new accreditation programme to recognise reliable stores.

Response: Thinking about how the Vietnam tourist was cheated by one of the shops in Sim Lim Square, I feel this training will be effective, as recognising reliable stores is important. After the cheating incident, I doubt that many people fully trust the retail shops in Sim Lim Square as they do not know if the shops are reliable or not, and they also do not want to get cheated. This also results in a drop in business throughout all shops in the mall, regardless of whether the shops are truely reliable or not. Interacting with customers also plays an important part in business, as customers will feel obliged to buy their products if you talk to them and encourage them. From the interaction, customers can also tell if the staff and shop are reliable enough to buy their products from them. Thus, I agree with the author that this training and accreditation programme will recognise reliable stores, and businesses picking up again.

  1. I feel that this training is very important as people do not wanted their money be wasted due to being cheated thus they would have distrust towards shop owners. Being trained to talk to the customers will allow the customers to trust them more and will buy from them.
