Netflix offers employees one year paid parental leave

This article is about US video streaming giant Netflix offering both female and male employees one year paid parental leave after the birth of a child. Greater numbers of companies are offering parents with a more flexible work-life balance. This would benefit both parents and kids as parents would not need to worry about their work and finances while taking care of their child, and kids would not be left alone at home without any form of care.
Singapore companies also have paid parental leave offered to their employees. However, the period of leave is around 4 months, and that only applies to the mother. This may not be feasible as babies would still be as helpless at 4 months old. Singapore is having a decline in its population growth. This may be caused by the inadequate paid parental leave offered, as couples may have to struggle between work and care for the baby. People would rather stay childless and continue their way of life.

  1. I think that Singapore should extend the paid parental leave as this would both benefit the parent and the child. This would also promote population growth which is needed in Singapore, thus i think they should extend the paid parental leave.
