Issue being discussed:
Change in climate is a challenge that poses a great threat to our future and future generations. If this continues, we may not be able to reverse the consequences and able to adapt the climate change sufficiently. In an attempt to at least try to slow the process, Obama announced that power plant owners must cut carbon dioxide emissions by 32 percent from 2005 levels by 2030. He hope that the process of global warming could at least slow down.
Regarding to climate change, I realize recently, the temperature is hotter than usual. One of the observation is that Singapore did not had any rainfall for a few month, causing reservoirs to almost dried up.
Point of view:
I agree with Mr Obama's statement, "We only get one home. We only get one planet. There's no 'plan B'," We only have one planet Earth and if we do not cherish it, it's a game over for all human races and other living things. Nowadays, with the increase in technology, the emission of greenhouse gases increases as well. This caused some changes to our planet Earth. Ice bergs in North Pole and South Pole are melting, rise in sea level, changes in weather and climate and increase in temperature of Earth. These are all negative consequences of increasing in greenhouse gases emission and if we don't do something to decrease it, the consequences are going to worsen. We should take action before everything is too late. But then, regretting is not going to help anyone it only to make ourselves feel bad. Since we only have this one home, we should keep this home safe for us to live in. Since now we have so many methods to do so, we should start doing them. After all, there is no plan B if we fail this.
Relating to Singapore:
In Singapore, citizens practices many methods to reduce emission of carbon dioxide. For example, reduce, reuse, recycle. We have been taught to do this since young and make a habit out of them. Public transport is widely promoted in Singapore as well, thus cutting down greenhouse gases emission.
